Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)

Welcome to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)

Body ScannersThe Phoenix airport has three terminals; 2,3 and 4. In 1990 Terminal 1 was demolished, but the other terminals were never renumbered. Something else which is unique - back in 2007 it was the first US airport to receive a full body scanner machine, officially called the Backscatter X-ray. This caused quite a bit of controversy as travelers were unfamiliar and weary of full body scanners.

Getting around: If you are connecting to a flight on the same airline you will remain behind security and in the same terminal. If you have a change of carriers you may need to change terminals, which will mean clearing security and re-checking in. There are many moving walkways, which is good for connections in Terminal 4 as gates are spread far apart.

Relaxing: For those travelers with a little extra time download the airport's self guided tour and stroll amongst the "Pipe Dreams" art exhibit near the Rental Car Center. More exhibits are viewable for free, such as "Luv'n AZ's Beauty" and "All Thumbs" until January 2013 in Terminal 2.

Dining: When looking for a quick bite, head over to any of the four Paradise Bakery locations throughout the airport. The specialty sandwiches are made fresh for you to enjoy on the spot or can be packed up to for an in-flight meal later. Another great option is a Blue Burrito Grille, with locations in Terminal 3 and 4. This locally owned and operated restaurant knows how to cook up a great southwestern meal.

Wi-fi: Free Wi-Fi is provided throughout all terminals on both sides of security, in most retail and restaurant areas and near the gates. The service is also available in the lobby of the Rental Car Center.
